Support Survivors

Have you ever wondered how long it takes a survivor of intimate partner violence to become independent after escaping an abusive relationship?

In the U.S., the staggering statistics reveal that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence at the hands of an intimate partner, and oftentimes, survivors need years of assistance.

SAVE has been providing a comprehensive program of crisis intervention, shelter, housing assistance, and other supportive services for survivors of intimate partner violence for 47 years.

Survivors like Priya:

“My ex-husband abused me and threw me on the street in the middle of the night after a ferocious argument. I came to the U.S. because of him; I had no family and friends. I didn’t know who to call and where to go.”
This year, we need your help more than ever. The demand for our services remains steady, but federal funding cuts are reducing the grant funds we rely on for our crisis response and housing programs. We are committed to meeting survivors’ needs, but we can’t do it without your support.

Your gift will provide shelter, critical care, and essential comfort to survivors of abuse. It can bring warmth and safety back into families suffering from fear, heartache, and pain.

“I had nothing but two bags of clothes when I called SAVE. I am so grateful that the advocate helped me with food, clothing, and housing right away.”

Last year, SAVE answered over 2,300 calls for help on our crisis line, and our highly trained crisis counselors understand that each caller’s situation is unique and complex. For example, Priya needed more than a safe place. She was facing deportation because her Visa was tied to the abuser, and our team helped her navigate these challenges in a way that helped keep her safe and feeling in control of her future. At SAVE, our door is open to everyone regardless of immigration status, religion, ethnicity, gender identity, and physical or developmental needs.

“A SAVE advocate called the Fremont Police Department for me because a law enforcement officer must sign my visa application. I was scared to call because I was afraid they would report me to I.C.E. (Immigration & Customs Enforcement). I am deeply grateful for the support because I got my paper within 15 days!”

While waiting for her work permit, Priya enrolled in business classes at Diablo Valley College.

“Fortunately, with SAVE’s referral, I received scholarships to finish my degree. SAVE is very generous in supporting me, from housing assistance, living costs, education, and transportation to interviews. The staff are very patient and open-hearted. They never force me to decide in a rush”.

Priya’s journey with SAVE did not end when she received her work permit; we are delighted she continues to be involved in our work. She volunteers at community outreach events, participates in advocacy training, and donates as a monthly supporter.

“I will never forget the wonderful people at SAVE who helped me.”
Your gift will help more women like Priya escape the cycle of violence. Your support of our services is an investment in the community and a commitment to help survivors.

There are three ways you can do right now to help:
1. Make a single donation, or you can become a monthly donor. A small amount deducted each month makes a big difference.

2. Create your fundraising page. Did you know it only costs $100 to cover the cost of completing a complex Temporary Restraining Order form for a survivor? That means if you raise $500, you can help 5 survivors live free of violence from their abusers. To get started, create an account with our easy-to-follow fundraising platform. It takes only five minutes.

3. Share our campaign on social media. Tell your friends and family about this fundraiser and why it matters.

Thank you for being a pillar of support for SAVE. We are grateful for your commitment to making our community a safer place.

P.S. Your gift today will help uplift the lives of not only women like Priya but also other families who still live in violent environments. With every dollar you donate, you sow the seeds of positive change and empowerment.
